Marketing and Social Media Experience

Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked as a marketing and social media manager for pages with millions of followers. I bring a fresh perspective and understanding of social media that helps grow the audience of every page I’ve worked on and increases the most critical part of the business: engagement and sales.

Marketing and social media aren’t just ways to advertise to your audience. They’re ways to connect with them on a personal level.

Below you’ll find examples of some of my best work, including memes, interviews, repeatables, and much more.

Star Trek - Starship Easter Eggs

In the world of social media, speed and accuracy with your content is what makes a brand stand out. The TV series Star Trek: Picard was a major trending topic Den of Geek wanted to capitalize on. Within moments of episode 9 airing, I had already researched, written, and fact checked a script covering elements of the episodes fans were desperate to learn more about. I recorded voice over, edited, and released the final video which quickly amassed nearly 200K views. This wouldn’t have been possible if we weren’t monitoring trending keywords and tailoring our content to match them.

Ewoks: The Best Star Wars Movie?

It’s important to craft social media posts around trending content but you should also strive to create original posts that fit your specific business needs. One of my tasks as part of the Den of Geek social media team is to search for pieces of media that will direct fans to our main website. In this case I determined a video essay was the best course of action so I wrote an original script, recorded voice over, edited, and posted it to YouTube. It was highly successful not only as a piece of content on its own but also in directing fans to our website to learn more.

The Grinch – Pet Life

The Grinch was a tent-pole film for Fandango, and we needed relatable content that would introduce the film to our audience. Watching the trailer, I instantly knew a clip of the titular Grinch with his pets would be perfect for a general audience, and all it needed was the right caption to make it shareable. I edited the clip, wrote the caption, and crafted social copy for the post. This was all done in just a few minutes after the trailer was posted, maximizing its potential reach. To this day it has the most engagement of any Fandango social media post.

Shrek – Astrology Signs

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fandango was forced to adjust its strategy to promote its library of VOD (Video on Demand) content. I led a team that brainstormed ways to give these films new life on our social media platforms. Working with a team of designers and an astrology expert, I helped create a perfect meme format that would lead to the most shares on our pages. The “Astrological Signs” series was a huge win for us, driving high engagement and also leading to purchases of films through our VOD platform. See the original post here.

Godzilla vs. Kong - Reality TV

A monster challenge when it comes to interviewing large groups of talent is to find a topic that can excite everyone and editing all of it into an easily digestible piece of content. For Godzilla vs. Kong I created the concept of, “Who would win on reality TV shows? Godzilla or King Kong?” I wrote the questions and researched reality shows that the talent were fans of. This was a hit with all of the interview subjects and gave them a break from the typical junket questions while still being on topic.

I organized all the clips and made sure they were positioned in the most engaging order that would attract viewers. Additionally, I looped the video several times in order to comply with Facebook’s best practices of videos needing to be longer than three minutes in order to gain the highest possible engagement.

Hustlers - Scene Breakdown

STX Entertainment and Fandango were key partners in the promotion of the Jennifer Lopez film, Hustlers. The social media team was tasked to drive our audience to this non-franchise film, a difficult prospect in today’s entertainment landscape. Utilizing Lopez’s star power while also shining a light on the director/writer, I helped create a video breakdown of a physically challenging scene from the film.

I assisted in editing the interview and writing social copy for use across all of our platforms. This was a massive success for both STX and Fandango, driving millions of engagements and ticket sales and was a Webby award honoree.

Magnificent Seven - On This Day

The demands of social media require constant content. You need reliable performers that don’t take a heavy lift and can also serve wider company interests. I created the “On This Day” series for Fandango, which served both as content that was quick to produce and also drove huge engagement numbers. I helped choose the right clips for our platforms and strategically scheduled them for optimal posting times. This series led to an increase in purchases of VOD titles and is a reliable performer that’s still in use.

F9 - Iconic Franchise Moments

When the Fandango social media team was asked to create a longform video to highlight Vin Diesel, I utilized my extensive knowledge of the Fast & Furious franchise, one of the biggest in Hollywood, to select the scenes that would produce the best reactions and stories from Diesel. I helped write the script for the interview and worked with our video team in the editing process to deliver a package that best showcased Diesel and the franchise.

Sonic - Iconic Lines

Sonic the Hedgehog was a film some in the entertainment industry couldn’t understand, but as a longtime lover of pop culture I knew it would have a huge impact. I took lead on marketing and observing trends around the film and took note of how many memes about the franchise related to the characters’ famous lines of dialogue. With this in mind, I crafted a concept where Sonic star Ben Schwartz recreated those popular lines in his Sonic voice.

I prepared an edit of the interview for our video team to demonstrate exactly how to juxtapose Schwartz’s interview with the clips. I wrote social copy and marketed the clip, drawing shares from the official Sonic the Hedgehog account and Ben Schwartz.
